Susan Olson founded Action Intel in March 2023, spearheading the development of groundbreaking market intelligence tools for commodities trading and transportation. In November 2023, Action Intel introduced BargeAI™, a revolutionary platform providing unique business insights into waterborne trade and transportation and offering real-time data on transit times, river levels, trade flows, and more.
With a career rooted in leading and building innovative technology solutions, Susan has a passion for using cutting-edge analytics to help businesses gain a competitive edge. Her drive to empower others through data and technology has been central to her success in both leadership and product development roles.
A rocket scientist by training and an experienced business builder, Susan leverages tech expertise in data science, predictive modeling, sensor technology, and data harvesting to build companies. She holds six U.S. patents for innovations that leverage sensor data to generate new intelligence for commodities markets. Her tech expertise spans across software development, machine learning, signal analysis, image analysis, and generative AI, all of which have been key in her ability to create and enhance market-focused products.
Prior to founding Action Intel, Susan served as CEO of Demeter Logistics, where she built a 25-person company from the ground up, producing a software platform that for the bulk grain supply chain for commercial agriculture companies. During her tenure at Genscape, she developed a new product line monitoring natural gas flows, created a seven-figure business in Agriculture & Biofuels, and led innovations in petroleum liquids transportation and storage.
Susan holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Evansville. Her research and development experience includes work with leading institutions such as Honeywell on the Joint Strike Fighter, NASA Ames Research Center, and the Office of Naval Research. She is also a dedicated advocate for empowering student voices and is in the incoming co-chair of the board of Young Authors Greenhouse in Louisville, KY.
Creed Gann serves as the Head of Sales at Action Intel. With 15 years of experience as an Operations and Product Director, he has successfully launched numerous innovative products, optimized operations, and built strong customer relationships within the commodities and field services sectors. Notably, Creed played a key role in the startup, operations, and eventual sale of a $364 million global intelligence firm focused on the commodity and energy markets.
His specialized expertise includes capturing and processing remote sensor data via M2M devices. Known for his energetic, ethical, and results-driven approach, Creed is passionate about continuous learning and fostering financial growth.
Outside of work, he enjoys coaching Kentucky High School Athletics, sustainable farming, and is an avid supporter of the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.
Dave Swain leads strategic product management and solutions engineering at Action Intel, bringing decades of expertise in agricultural technology and agribusiness to his role.
Growing up on a grain and livestock farm in east-central Indiana, Dave developed a strong connection to agriculture and commodities from an early age. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University in 1988, which laid the foundation for his diverse career in the agribusiness sector.
Dave’s career began in the retail fertilizer industry, where he worked for six years with a farmers' cooperative in Ohio and later with Terra International in Michigan. In 1995, he transitioned to AgChem Equipment Company in southern Indiana, taking on sales roles that introduced him to agricultural technology.
From 1997 to 2003, Dave served as a Territory Manager for SOILTEQ, AgChem’s technology division, and after AgChem's acquisition by AGCO in 2001, he continued with AGCO’s Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS) division. During his time at ATS, Dave held key roles, including Manager of Technology Field Staff, Technology Product Marketing Specialist, and Manager of ATS Marketing for North America.
In 2013, Dave joined Southern States Cooperative as the Manager of Precision Ag Services, where he deepened his expertise in precision agriculture. He later joined Spensa Technologies, a Purdue University startup focused on in-season scouting and automated insect traps, where he worked in sales. After DTN acquired Spensa in 2018, Dave continued his work in agribusiness through DTN’s sales team.
In April 2022, Dave founded Vision Technology Management, LLC, where he leverages his extensive industry experience to help agribusinesses and growers adopt and implement advanced agricultural technologies into their operations.
